Center "Sefer" in cooperation with the Center for Slavic-Jewish studies the Institute of Slavic studies organizes theTwenty-seventh international conference on Jewish studies to be held in Moscow, 31 January – 2 February 2021

The conference program is expected to include sections reflecting traditional areas of Judaism (biblical and Talmudic studies, Jewish thought, Jewish history of different periods, Judeo-Christian relations, the Holocaust, Israeli studies, languages and literature, art, Ethnology, demography, genealogy, museums and archives, etc.). Topics that allow for an interdisciplinary approach to research are welcome. Reports of graduate students and young researchers, as shown by the positive experience of the past few years, are included in the youth panels of the conference with the participation of specially invited debaters.

If you wish to propose a panel, please send its description in English and Russian to sefer@sefer.ru.

Graduate students and young researchers are invited to take part in the youth panels of the conference, moderated by the leading specialists in their fields of study.

Presentation of last year publications on Jewish studies will also take place.

The organizers are covering accommodation (double occupancy) in the hotel "Izmailovo-Beta"from the morning of January, 31 to 12.00 of February 2, 2021,and meals for the conference participants (buffet, not kosher). Extra nights at the hotel and other additional services, such as single accommodation, kosher meals, etc. should be paid by the participants themselves.

In case the presentation is co-authored, the accommodation / meals can be paid for only one of the speakers.

Those of you who need an invitation for an entry visa to the Russian Federation are kindly requested to contact us in advance (additional information is needed, we will send the requirements on request), as the process takes a long time.

Please note that for the youth panels of the conference (young participants without PhD degrees) there are discussants provided, who have to read the detailed abstracts in advance. Please prepare and send us abstracts (2-4 pages)by October, 1, 2020.

Official invitations will be sent outbefore November, 1, 2020.

The time limit for one presenter is 20 minutes (including questions). The Conference will be held inRussianandEnglish.

The participants will be provided with accommodation and meals during the Conference.

There are also several travel grants available for graduate students and young researchers (up to 40 years old).
